Who
am I?
Staying at home,
Being alone,
Sultry weather,
Makes me feel as bored as buddha,
Wandering around my grandma’s house,
I unintentionally break her antique vase.
Accidentally,
I find an old photo album,
Inside was clipped a musty old photo,
Hence, pour a torrent of memories,
Kenneth (my grandpa) from Fujian spoke Mandarin,
When he was young,
He did some business in the Philippines,
Being so unfamiliar with both people and the place,
As THE MORNING SUN NEVER LASTS A DAY,
He suffered a crushing.
GOOD
DEEDS ARE,
SELDOM KNOWN OUTSIDE THE DOOR,
BAD DEEDS ARE,
REPORTED A THOUSAND MILES AWAY.
Spending
for more than 20 years,
Improving his business skills,
“The first step of every task
Must be troublesome.”
His belief, his vision,
Made him succeed at last.

Invisible
Love Chain
Migrating
from Portugal to Macau,
And from Macau to Hong Kong.
Love linked the lot,
No one would be lost.
Lots of people in a house,
But hardly saw a mouse.
The house was a language centre,
The older spoke Portuguese,
The younger spoke Cantonese.
Jesting and joking,
There's no such thing called "generation gap".
From a factory worker to a millionaire,
Working like an ant,
And now money would land.
The more you pay,
The more you gain.
Always aim for "A",
And never get to regret.

The Burmese Chinese
His
father behaved well
Embarrassingly, he was a rebel.
Expressing his political views on communism
He was caught by the Chinese police
When he first came to China in the fifties.
Along with his wife, he came to Hong Kong
Running a company which sold wood
"Wa wa" there they gave birth to my mum.
Can you guess who he is?
He is my grandfather
Who treats me as the apple of his eye!

The
"Lovestone"
With the little lovestone in my hand,
It draws me back to the story in mainland.
The story of a young girl and a boy,
The story filled with sorrows and joy.
Started
with a marriage,
The young couple lived in a small cottage,
Enjoying their honeymoon,
In a pleasant mood.
Marked
their names on a piece of stone,
And scratched a heart around the stone.
Named this to be their lovestone,
For their love was as firm as a stone.
Soon
they moved to a place called Hong Kong,
And lots of children were born.
Though the time was harsh and difficult,
They held their hands together and life seemed not really that difficult.
Arguments
and cold wars might make them very sad,
But obstacles made their love firmer instead.
Looking at their lovestone again,
I knew that the love of my grandparents would never end.

The
Po's minority
Once upon a
time,
There was a minority.
The family relied on fishing,
They lived on the sea happily.
During
the Second World War,
The little family escaped from Zhong Shan to Hong Kong.
Soon, they landed and started selling fish for business.
This is the Po’s family interesting history.
All
Po’s members have a pair of long ears,
All brothers have a small scar on the ear,
Do you like this special little minority?
This is my family history.

Do
you understand?
Do you understand your past,
Which is covered with dust?
My grandmother, Christine.
Came to Hong Kong at the age of nineteen.
Started a life with a man whom she found disgusting.
Gave
birth to thridteen children who are and nice.
My fhater was the eldest, neat and wise.
He worked as hard as a cow,
Has finally changed his job now.
As the boss who is silly but ready to improvise.
From
village he moved to city,
Developed his own family.
Met my mother who then had a baby,
Changed his entire freaky hobby,
Now lives with his family happily.

Family
History
After the First and Second World war,
Here I come to this world.
Visiting every new and interesting thing.
Living
in this family,
Advice is always given.
Every moment is precious.
No anxiety and no panic,
Risks are easily solved by us.
Distance between us closer.

My
Family
My parents are married for seventeen years
As a child, I cried for toys with tears
Jumping, bouncing everywhere
They were kind and would not care.
They reminded me not to be naughty
I ignored them and did not feel sorry
Father tried to give the best to me
But I did not cherish them in my teens.
I received presents and celebrated Christmas
Parents gave me the greatest happiness
I never retorted but was an obedient daughter
I hope my family would last forever.

An
Adventurous Life
Have
you ever gone swimming?
Or did you just try to swim in the pool?
My Grandma Miss Wu,
Swam a long distance when she was just a kid.
Why?
Following
her family,
Escaping from the war.
From China to Hong Kong,
She swam so long.
Once
my grandma nearly died,
In an accident she had,
Stayed in the hospital for a month
My
grandma had a life of adventure
Now her life has a great change.

Grandparents
It was a starry night
A woman was holding her baby tight
The ocean was moon-lit
The family was on a flight.
They arrived in Hong Kong from China
Rested in a small flat with an old man and a myna
Parents slept in a small bed with eight children
Starting a new life was a heavy burden.
Few years of hard work were worthy
They opened a shop, sold embroidery
The children went to school, then university
They got jobs and got married.
My father told me this story
He said work hard so that you’d never feel sorry
Look up to what your grandparents did
And start when you’re a little kid.

The
Loving Parents
The
four grown-up children
Who thanked the love from their parents
Had been working and
Taking care of their dearest mother and father.
Now they are in the United States,
Always go yum cha with their mates.
I love them wherever they stay,
As they are my dearest grandparents always.

Sie's
Business
They
had a good business time,
They were hard-working and earned much money.
Due to the wonderful time,
They lived happily and joyfully.
As
time passed through quickly,
An accidental fire suddenly destroyed the factory.
These hurt them very much.
But they didn’t give up and rebuild it.
Their "never give up" spirit lasted forever.

Hugo's
Store
Hugo's
family was very poor,
He grew up and respected his mother,
He spoke his mother tongue all day long,
At
twenty, he married and worked like an ox.
"Wow!" Hugo first earned ten thousand dollars when he was thirty,
He opened a store to sell daily appliances,
By
forty, he had five children.
Ten years later, his business grew.
Do you know who Hugo is?
My beloved grandfather!!
